| Friday 31 Aug 2006 - The first day of the Seiger Show consisted of the courage test for the working class males and females in the center stadium and the preliminary rounds for the young class dogs in rings outside the stadium. The courage test consisted of two exercises; heeling with the dog off leash protecting the handler from attack and the long attack. The heeling exercise has the handler heel with the dog up to a line approx 10 meters from the blind where the helper pops out and attcks the dog. The dog is expected to display courage and attack the helper without hesitation and continue the attack while receiving stick hits from the helper as he drives the dog and applies pressure to it. The second exercise is the long attack, which requires the dog to attack the helper as they both run towards each other from each end of the field approx 60 meters apart. |
